KENT INTERNATIONAL-- CRYSTAL PALACE June 29th /30th 2013

The travelling squad hit the road again, (or should I say the train tracks!) last Friday to go to London for the Kent International tournament. Juniors were fighting on the Saturday and youth/seniors on the Sunday. Some exceptional judo was on display from our players and they came home with three Bronze and one Gold medal. The juniors all threw for Ippon during their fights and demonstrated their determination and good sportsmanship throughout. We are very proud of their efforts.
In the U73 Dave and Callum were in opposite sides of the draw but met in the repercharge at the crossover. Dave beat Callum in Golden score after an epic battle in which neither player received any penalties. As the competition was under the new rules this demonstrates the 100% effort both players put in and the quality of their judo. Dave met a Dutch player in the bronze fight and beat him with a strangle. On the podium the other medallists were all Dutch.
Aimee Grant won Gold after refighting her pool. Winning both fights in the pool, she swept through the semi-final and showed her total dominance on the ground in the final, winning gold with assured techniques and maturity.
Both Dave Kerr and Aimee Grant are representing Scotland at the team games next weekend in Walsall .
