Nantes Tournament

Well done to all our members who travelled to Nantes and La Baule for the tournament and Twinning Town visit. All members fought well but no medals this time. Well done boys.

La Baule Trip / Nantes Tournament

Good luck to Chris Mota, Ross Campbell, Michael Maclennan, Callum Maclennan and David Kerr who are travelling to La Baule France along with our Head Coach Robert Inglis and Chairman Keir Smith to take part in the Twinning Town event and compete at the Nantes Touranment. It is a 2 day tournament and the group will be hosted by the La Baule Judo club for their 4 day visit.

Inverness Area Sports Council Awards

Well done to Josie Steele who won the U12 female sports personality of the Year 2011 (3rd year in a row) and to Chris Mota who won the U18 Male Player of the Year 2011. Both members have had a great year and we are all really proud of them. 

HBJC Awards night 2011

Club Championships

Thank you to everyone who made the Club Championships a great success again this year. With around 60 members taking part on the day, we saw some fantastic Judo and everyone fought well and worked hard. The club raised just over £1000 for the event.

A big thank you to our committee, club members and parents who worked very hard and made the event run ahead of time and a great success.

Granite City Grand Prix

Highland Budokan attended the Granite City Grand Prix in Aberdeen on Saturday 12th Nov. We had 15 members fighting on the day bringing home a total of 11 medals ( 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze) results are as follows

European Cup - Malaga

Steph Inglis won Bronze at the European Cup in Malaga Spain in the U57kg. Well Done steph.

Welsh Open - Day 2

Well done to Steph Inglis who won Gold in the womens U57kg on day 2 of the Welsh Open.

Dufftown Championships 2011

We sent a squad of 8 to the Dufftown championships coming home with an amazing 7 medals, with the 8th member getting a 5th and just missing out on a medal. All members fought well, and it was nice to see such good team spirit where all were supporting each other throughout the day. Results are as follows:

Scottish Open (Day 2)

Well done to Steph Inglis who won Gold in the womens U57kg and Roy Shepherd who came 5th in the mens U81kg.

Scottish Open 2011 - Juniors & Masters

Well done to all our Juniors and Masters who took part in day 1 of the Scottish Open. Everyone fought well on the day, and this was the 1st Junior Scottish Open tournament for our Junior members taking part. They all worked hard with Chris Mota coming away with a Bronze medal in the Juniors U55kg, Michael Maclennan 5th in the U81kg. In the Masters section John Haslam (U81kg) came away with a 5th Place. Well done to everyone who took part.

British Age Bands

Well done to all our members who fought at the British Age Bands over the weekend. The club came away with 2 Bronze medals, Aimee Grant U40kg pre cadet girls, Hannah Kerr U44kg pre cadet girls, and 3 5th places for Chris Mota U55kg cadet boys, Michael Maclennan U81kg Cadet boys and Malin Wilson U63kg Juniors. Callum Maclennan, David Kerr and Ross Campbell also fought well but missed out on being placed this time.

Baxters 5k & 10k Sponsored run

Well done to the 5 members who took part in the 5k and 10k Baxters runs on Sunday 2nd October. Ross Campbell, Chris Mota, Callum Maclennan and David Kerr completed the 10 k, and Michael Maclennan completed the 5k.

Well done to all 5 who are trying to raise funds for their trip to La Baule in December.

Heart of England results for the 2 day event are :

Hannah Kerr, Douglas Murray, David Kerr, Nathaniel Valente and Malin Wilson also fought well at the event.

Lakeland Open - Sunday Results

Sunday's Results :
Aimee Grant - Gold, Chris Mota - Silver, Michael Maclennan - Silver, David Kerr - Bronze and Hannah Kerr - Bronze.
Well done to all the 5 members who took part over the 2 day event and all 5 took home a medal.

David Kerr won a Bronze medal at Lakeland today.

US Open

Well done to Steph Inglis who came 7th in the U57kg category at the US Open on Sunday 3rd July in Miami,

Kent International

On Friday 24th June 7 members took the long Journey to Crystal Palace in London to attend the Kent International on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th June. With around 1000 fighters taking part over the 2 day event. All 7 fought well on the day. With a Silver medal from Chris Mota in the boys U16 U55kg category and a Bronze for Joanna Maclennan in the girls U16 U36kg, David Kerr U16 U73 - 5th and Aimee Grant U16 U40kg - 7th. Hannah Kerr, Michael Maclennan, and Jack Grant all fought well and all made the club very proud.

Venray

Well done to Steph Inglis who won Gold at the Venray International on Sunday 19th June in the Womens U57kg. All other members fought well but missed out on the medals this time.

Highland Budokan open 2011

Highland Budokan Open 2011 kicked off in the Inverness Sports centre on saturday 4th June with 180 + fighting from all across Scotland from 27 different Scottish Clubs. The day ran smoothly from start to finish, with Highland Budokan taking 33 of the medals ( 9 Gold, 10 Silver & 14 Bronze) Also taking the Player of the Day shield (sponsored by Tesco Extra Inverness) was Roy Shepherd U81 fighter in the Senior Mens. The day couldnt have happened without the support of the Club Committee and club members and families of which so may gave up their time to help. The event was sponsored by, Acorn Signs, Tesco Extra, Fionnar Water, and Highland & Island Fire Service and Rescue. We would like to thank them all for their support in making the tournament a great success

Highland Region Open

On Saturday 21st May Highland Budokan Judo Club took 12 members to the Highland Region Open in Fort William, this being the first event in our brand new minibus and returned with 12 medals. The medal hall included 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 6 Bronze, with all 12 members taking a medal.

Easter Camp 2012

Highland Budokan Judo Club attended the Ross-Shire Under 16 Mini Mons tournament on Saturday 30th April in Invergordon, 16 members fought on the day bringing home a total of 12 medals (4 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze), all members fought well and the results are:

Easter Camp

Well done to everyone who took part in the 5 Day Easter Camp at Millburn Academy, both classes were full. All those who took part worked really hard and everyone had a great week.

Marie Curie Grand Prix

Highland Budokan Judo Club took 11 members to the Final Grand Prix of the circuit ( The Marie Curie Grand Prix, Motherwell on Sunday 10th April.
A great day was had day all, with a added extra of raising much needed funds for Marie Curie. Medals went to :

Inverness 5km Fun Run

Well Done to our members who took part in the Inverness 5km fun run in the snow and rain on Sunday 13th March 2011. They are raising money for 14 members and coaches to attend the Venray International in June this year. Keep up the good work.

Club Grading

Well Done to the 72 Members who took part in the Club Grading at Millburn Academy on Saturday 5th March. It was a very good day for all involved. A big thanks to the coaches and Squad members who gave up their time to help with the smooth running of the event.

North West Age Bands - St Helens

Well done to all our team who fought in the North West Age Bands on Saturday 19th Feb 2011, -Michael Maclennan - Bronze, Hannah Kerr - Bronze, David Kerr - 5th, Callum Maclennan - 7th and Aimee Grant who fought well but got injured during a fight, get well soon Aimee. Well done everyone.

Ultimate Open Results

The clud attended the Ultimate Open on Sunday 13th Feb in Meadowbank, Edinburgh. 12 members of our club attended, and all of them won a medal. (5 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze) They all fought well and the club is very proud to have a strong squad who all support one another at every competition, and show such great team spirit.
