Ross and Cromarty Sports Council Awards

Highland Budokan Judo Club won Club of the Year at the Ross and Cromarty Sports Council Awards, which were held in Dingwall. Aimee Grant won Athlete of the Year 2010. 

Inverness Area Sports Council Awards

Well done to Beverely Read and Josie Steele who won awards on Friday night at the Inverness Area Sports Council Awards. Beverley won the Coach/ Admin Person of the Year Award and Josie won the Inverness Courier Under 12's Girl's Sports Personality Award for the second year running.
Beverley won her award for the committment and effort she has given to the Club this year. 
Josie has had another excellent year, attending 9 competitons and winning 9 medals (5 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze), this included Gold at the Scottish Age Banded Championships in September. 

Highland Budokan Club Championships


The Highland Budokan Club Championships at Millburn Academy in Inverness. 61 Club members fought their way through the snow to attend and all had a great day. The championships had a mixed level of entry from complete beginners in Competition to experienced players. 
The Club Championships will be held next year on the 3rd December, so if you didn't enter this year, make sure you do next year, as it's an excellent way to get introduced to competition Judo.

Well done to Chris Mota who won Bronze at the Hibari Kan Junior Open in Larkhall on Saturday 30th Oct.

Scottish Open

3 Members took part in the Scottish Open on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th Oct. Well done to Roy Shepherd who won Bronze, Stacey Inglis who came 5th and Tommy Mercer who fought well but missed out on the medals this time.

Well done the 16 Club members who were competing at the Bells Sports Centre in Perth yesterday (11/09/10). The Club managed to take 10 medals.

UK School Games

Well Done to Duncan Seaton who was selected for the Scotland Squad to take park in the UK School Games after getting through the trials. He Fought well but missed out on the medals this time. We hope to have more of the squad selected next year.

Summer Camp 2010

Thank you to everyone who took part in this years Summer Camp, both classes where a great success and from the comments received by parents all the kids seemed to enjoy it as well. They had 5 days of Judo, games and various other sports and activities, the sessions lasted 3 hours the under 9's attended each day from 9-12pm and the over 9's from 1-4pm. Everyone worked really hard all week and earned certificates, medals and lots of prizes at the end.

Highland Budokan Open

Highland Budokan Judo club held the Highland Budokan Open on the 5th June at Inverness Sports Centre. The event was attended by Judo clubs from Augsburg, Germany and La Baule, France along with clubs from all over Scotland.
The event was a great success with around 160 competing on the day. 39 members of Highland Budokan Judo club took part, winning a total of 28 medals. (9 Gold, 5 Silver and 14 Bronze)
Thanks to the support of the Club committee, Referees, table officials and parent helpers the Highland Budokan Open kicked off on time and with everyone’s hard work it ran ahead of schedule all day.
We are also grateful to Cllr Ken MacLeod and Cllr Bet McAllister who presented the medals and helped with commentary throughout the day.
Many thanks to Mike Read Plumbing & Heating, Tesco Extra, Fionnar, Highlands & Islands Fire Brigade and the Highland Council who all who all supporting the event and without them the event would not have taken place.

Venray International

Well done to Stacey Inglis who won Bronze at the Venray International this weekend (28th&29th May), Roy Shepherd came 5th , Tommy Mercer & Chris Mota came 9th. Lauren Sturrock and David Kerr were also fighting but unfortunately didn't place this time. Well done to everyone.

Senior European Cup - Sarajevo 2010

Well Done to Steph Inglis who was competing at the Senior European Cup in Sarajavo, Bosina-Herzegovina today. Steph won her pool, but was unlucky to finish 5th in the Womans under 52kg. 

Neil Adams Classic - Meadowbank

The club has had another fantastic weekend this time we attended the Neil Adams Classic at the Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh.

British School and English Senior Open

Well done to those who fought at the British Schools: Callum MacLennan (u66kg) and David Kerr (u73kg) won Gold both from Dingwall Academy, Duncan Seaton (u46kg) Inverness Royal Academy and Lauren Sturrock (u70kg) Millburn Academy took silvers. Tim Fraser 5th, Dingwall Academy, Chris Mota 7th, Inverness Royal Academy, and Ross Campbell, Charleston Academy all fought well, but unfortunately missed out on te medals. Well done guys!!!!
Well done to Steph Inglis who fought up a weight at the English Open and take a bronze in the U57kg. Stacey Inglis was also fighting in the U57kg and missed out on a medal this time and was also unlucky to have to fight Steph in the early rounds!!!!!!
And good weekend for the Club

British University Games

Well done to Steph Inglis, Stacey Inglis and Roy Shepherd who were all competing for their Universities in Sheffield at the weekend. Steph took gold in the U52 1st Kyu and Above, Stacey took bronze in the U57 1st Kyu and Above and Roy finished 5th in the U81 1st Kyu and Above.

Elgin Open - 13/3/10

The club had 29 members fighting at the Elgin open on Saturday 13th March, and managed to win an amazing 24 medals. all the members fought well, and it was great to see so many younger members coming along, for some this was their first competition outside the club championships, so a special well done to them.
